I'm not sure what is worse.
People moaning about ringers or people moaning about people moaning about ringers...
What really concered me is what seems to be a growing tread for the large corps NOT to fight each other.
Having played eve since late 2003, I've seen this cycle before there.. You might have heard people talking about the "Big Blue Donut", reffering to so many 0.0 allainces setting blue standings to each other and no longer fighting.
For a PvP game, this is very bad.
Not much can be done, it's human nature for most of us to prefer to fight those we feel we can be certain to win... I'm not moaning about it, no one likes to lose. Me least of all.
Currently there is little incentive for the larger corps and allainces to fight, either here or in eve, other than grudges and they soon fade.

We had a battle with Nyain san and a squad of Imps showed up, comprising of Doug Ugly, Bear, Zitro and a few others i can't remember.
We don't interpret this as a form of weakness, it just shows that Nyain San really wanted to keep their district, and it's a simple clever tactic.
Also ringers happen more often in Alliances due to mainly out of game issues like time zone or the members that are online are not responding due to RL issues.
And yes, honestly sometimes it's just down to wanting to bring a dream team to go in a rampage the battlefield.
totally agree with this to be honest, we (sorry my old corp) recently fought The South Legion, now these are not guys you would think need ringers, but we rather stupidly thought we could catch them out of their natural time zone and hit them on our european peak time, hoping that would get a crack at perhaps their b-team. Sadly... they had mates and want to hold the district and united pwnage backed them up. We lost and then lost again 3 hours later to a full team of TSL.
Good fights btw.
Plenty of the guys in that corp moaned about them using ringers.. I just asked the question, "if we had Betamax or Imps as mates, wouldn't you use them?" Of course most said "hell no"... but lets be honest.. they're kidding themselves, I was leading my corp team (thanks for the learning expirence TSL) and I can tell you, I would have happily jumped on the bat phone has I had one.
moaning about this kinda stuff just makes you look bitter and sad.
